The aim of this project is to design an add-on bathroom product to prevent epilepsy patients from drowning. This is a group project worked out by Rob, Harry, Tom and myself. The competition has been held between our individual projects. Hence, I would like to show my individual work first and then state my main contributions to the group work.

01

Caring for epilepsy patients

  1. Bathroom safe, no electricals included.

  2. Does not get in the way of the bath, being an add-in product.

  3. Gives confidence and security of support for loss of consiousness within a bath.

Physical model:Ideation

I used the wood to manufacture the early idea of my products. This would give me a general idea for which part I need to modify. This was mainly my individual work. After all classmates in my group completed their design, we were going to have a competition to elect the top 1 product as the final.

Digital model: Final design

Finally, the product presented is safe, convenient, suitable for users of different heights, and can effectively protect epilepsy patients, helping them to enjoy life without worry about drowning in the bath.

Group work contribution

图9-mould Fusion.png

Our group selected bath support like “Octopus” as the Top 1. The following work was focused on the “Octopus”. My contribution is performing the mould using Fusion.

The mould images above would be similar to the one that would be necessary to produce in order to get the desired shape. The silicone would be injected at a few injection sites shown above and may also require additional consideration of vent placement in order to allow for air to be displaced by the injection moulded silicone. Multiple injection sites would ensure that there is an even coverage of material throughout the form with no air gaps therefore providing consistency between each individual product.
