
App-Green life
This project is designed for those people who are occupied by busy city life but willing to have flowers at home. Our project provides such people with clever support that will keep their flowers fresh. The product is intelligent because we have designed an App (designed by myself) inside the Mobile phone that can communicate the current state of the condition of the plant and also brief information about the following steps-soil change-leaf spraying or recommendations for relocating the plant to another place in the room. This is a group project worked out by Robert, Thomas and myself.

Clever pot
The “clever pot” project was completed by the cooperation of Robert Fodora, Thomas White and I myself-Zixuan Yang. I am mainly involved with the design of the App. Every parent is full of hope and love when naming their children. We affectionately call this app “Green Life".

Green life
The plant is planted inside the “clever pot” with soil. Sensors inside the soil measures humidity and tempreture. The base containing the necessary electronics, power suppy, connectivity and etc, so that the data can be passed to the user’s mobile phone if they have downloaded the “Green Life” App.

Moisture status of the soil
Inspiration with emoji icons. Icons created by us display the company logo in a circle. The circle shows the moisture status of the soil (lower blue part-water and upper green to brown part-soil.

Plant library
On the basis of market research, I selected five most popular plants as preset ones: flowers, bonsai, herbal medicine, cactus and grass to help users reduce the difficulty of comparison.

Main display of the App
This application is designed with adobe XD, mainly includes six parts. Users can enter the main page of the app, the plants library, personalized plant maintenance plan, the display and alarm of water content status, regular reminder as planned, and the termination and restart of maintenance plan.

Detailed display of App
Following Miller's law, users only need to complete 6 steps to realize relevant functions. "Plant lover" starts from the market demand.The main consideration of display applications is based on User-centered design theory, which allows users to have a green and intelligent life.

Activation of reminder function
Our Plant-lover will activate the reminder function in two cases. One of them is the soil humidity data information transmitted from the soil humidity of the flowerpot at any time, which will be compared with the preset alarm value in the app. If the data exceeds the critical value, the user will be reminded. The other is to remind users regularly according to the maintenance time interval set by different plants.

Regular reminder
When the time interval reaches the preset value, the App will prompt the user that it is time to watering, fertilizing, pruning and pest controlling. For example, if users preset three days for watering the flower , they will receive a reminder of watering every three days.

Maintenance plan
Unfortunately, no matter how well we plan, there will always be accidents. For example, we travel abroad for important work. When we get home after work, we may find that the flower is dead. We can only terminate the plan, by long pressing the alarm page for 5 seconds to stop all reminders and announcing the end of the plan. After a period of time, when we are ready to be accompanied by new plants, we can activate the page and start a new plan.
